The beach of Perissa is one of the most exciting and cosmopolitan of Santorini.
Located in the southeastern part of the island, as you can see on the map, it has black sand, made of lava. Perissa beach is fully organized with sun beds, umbrellas and a variety of water sports to choose from. It is one of two beaches of Santorini with a blue flag. The beach extends over 7km, where one can find a camp (one of the two in Santorini), rooms to let, hotels and several taverns, cafes and/or bars. In the area one can also find the ruins of the Byzantine church of Agia Irini (Santa Irini) from which Santorini got its name.
Perissa beach was this year in the top10 of the world’s most unusual beaches, presented by Lonely Planet.
