In the south lies the village of Emporio. It’s a medieval village built of volcanic stone and with fortification architecture. The village was during the Venetian domination, as the name suggests, the shopping center of Santorini.

The visitor will be impressed with the picturesque streets and the many attractions in the area.

The castle which is the best preserved of the five of Santorini, the church of Palaia Panagia (Old Mary), the monastery of Agios Nikolaos, the ancient Echentra, the monastery of Agios Ioannis Theologou (Saint John the Theologian) and the deserted windmills (up to 6 m high) deserve the visitor's attention.

The nearest beach and port is Perissa.
