The name of the settlement Pyrgos (Tower) is describing explicitly and succinctly its beauty. Pyrgos is located alongside the castle in the island's highest point since it was built in the early 17th century. Pyrgos was for many years the center and the capital of the island during the Venetian times.

Visitors can admire the magnificent view since the entire island lies underneath him.

Apart from the castle it is imperative to visit the monastery of Prophet Elias at the top of the mountain and Theotokaki, a church dating from the 10th century.
